SUNNYBANK KANGALOON

This weekend, the girls and I set out on an incredible getaway to Kangaloon in the Southern Highlands, just 15 minutes from Bowral. We stayed in Sunnybank Kangaloon barn (@sunnybank_kangaloon), a country guesthouse that dually boasts chic luxe interiors and a homely vibe, making for the ideal wintery weekend. The secluded location of the barn makes it quite literally a hidden gem and radiates an feel of ultimate exclusivity. There is something about huddling up by the fire with a rose, a delicious spread of dips and a movie on an chilly night, and this was the ideal location to do exactly that.

There was not a single element we could fault about the place. The interior design (decked out in MCM furniture – the DREAM), practicality of the barn’s layout, stunning tree-lined driveway and rustic veggie patch surrounded by lemon trees allowed for the ultimate chic-country experience. There are chickens and gorgeous horses that also reside in an adjoining paddock, all very friendly and made the farm scene even more authentic.

The main living area was a chic-luxe dream, down to the rustic book displays, linen couches and modern dining table. The well-equipped kitchen made cooking nights entirely do-able, something I would definitely recommend in order to embrace the cosy vibe of Sunnybank and everything it has to offer. The bathroom was modern, spacious and the upstairs bedrooms were the perfect area to unwind after an activity-filled day.

On our first morning, we headed into Bowral and came across a quaint bakery called Flour Eggs Water. If you’re a lover of quality coffee and freshly baked goods, then this place is definitely worth a visit.

Later on in the day, we headed out to Bendooley Estate. Each dish we ordered was exquisite and totally delicious. We were all blown away! My favourite by far was the pumpkin and goats cheese wood fired pizza, on a thin homemade crust. Paired with a rose, there is nothing I could fault about the entire experience. I am still dreaming of it!

On our final morning, we visited the Press Shop in Bowral for our last breakfast. Their smashed avocado with roasted tomato, feta and poached egg was nothing short of divine – up there as one of the best smashed avocados I have tried! The breakfast gnocchi which I also tasted was equally as delicious.

Massive thank you to Bel, the host of Sunnybank. Could not recommend this stunning barn more! Will definitely be back to embrace the beauty this farm has to offer.
